There are lots of programming textbooks out there, but often they’re either mediocre, super advanced, or out of date. It’s hard to find an excellent up-to-date textbook for the latest tool versions that works well in our classes. We believe there will always be a niche for free programming textbooks that evolve with the tools.

Books

Gorgo Tasting OpenTofu and Terraform

A short booklet that teaches infrastructure as code by building a message-of-the-second web server. It starts with echo hello world, moves to a Go web server in Docker, adds a MySQL database of 3600 sayings, runs the same thing on Kubernetes, and ends on an Oracle Cloud free tier machine with Cloudflare DNS and a Let’s Encrypt certificate. Every configuration works in both OpenTofu and Terraform.

AI Usage

We use AI like crazy! Claude is our best bud. He’s super great at keeping everything consistent and accurate. It’s still a lot of work though, but we couldn’t have done it without him.
