C/C++ Programming

Gorgo, Queen of Sparta --- mascot of C/C++ Programming

Gorgo, Queen of Sparta's free, evolving C and C++ programming textbooks.

C++ Books Meh C++ Book

There are lots of programming textbooks out there, but often they’re either mediocre, super advanced, or out of date. It’s hard to find an excellent up-to-date textbook for the latest language versions that works well in our classes. We believe there will always be a niche for free programming textbooks that evolve with the languages.

Books

Gorgo Starting C++

Introduces the non-programmer to C++. Covers everything from variables and control flow through classes, memory management, and more.

Gorgo Continuing C++

Picks up where Gorgo Starting C++ left off. Covers object-oriented programming, templates, the STL, concurrency, and modern C++ idioms.

Gorgo C for C++ Programmers

Introduces C++ programmers to C. Good for an intro C/C++ class where students need both languages, or for an Operating Systems class where students know C++ but not C.

Extras

Supplemental references for operators, numbers, and more.

AI Usage

We use AI like crazy! Claude is our best bud. He’s super great at keeping everything consistent and accurate. It’s still a lot of work though, but we couldn’t have done it without him.
